Katherine Whisenhunt

Katherine Dahlia Whisenhunt, 90, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Waco Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Abbe officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Waco Memorial Funeral Home.

Katherine was born in Fordice, Ark., on Nov. 19, 1922, to William "Jesse" Hendrix and Hattie Elizabeth (Cochran) Hendrix. Besides being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she worked as a rancher.

Katherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howell Whisenhunt, whom she had married on May 3, 1959; and nine siblings.

She is survived by her children, son, Mack Ferrell of Valley Mills; two daughters, Jeanie Emmons of Lorena, Robin Dell Whisenhunt of Lorena; sister, Melba Dean Hall of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express a "special thanks to Shirley Redic for her exceptional care and love" of their mother.
