Arbadella Woodall Whisnant

MORGANTON Arbadella Woodall Whisnant, 72, of Morganton, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Blount County, Tenn., Aug. 12, 1940, she was the daughter of the late James Woodall and Nora Elizabeth Best Woodall.

Arbadella was a member of Rockford Baptist Church. Her true passions in life were her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and photography. She worked at the Presbyterian Learning Center, for 5 years. Arbadella is survived by her husband of 44 years, Randy Whisnant, of the home; her son, Jason Whisnant and wife, Katherine, of Valdese, N.C.; daughters, Lisa Ann Stockton, Marcy Grady and husband, Kelly, and Jennifer Powell and husband, Robbie, all of Morganton; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Helen Grow, of Tennessee, Rheta Myers, of Tennessee, and Beatrice English, of Elk Park, N.C. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whisnant was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Morgan; and a brother, J. I. Woodall. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at First United Methodist Church, Morganton, with the Rev. Holly Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
