Funeral service for George E. Whisenant will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Grover Robinson will officiate. Interment will be in Ebernezer Baptist Church Cemetery. West Gadsden Funeral Home is in charge.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Alice Faye Whisenant; two sons, Michael Williams (Danielle), Gadsden, and George Ed (Victoria) Whisenant Jr., Hampton, Va.; five stepchildren, April Salsbury, North Carolina, Ann Turner, Huntsville, Glover Cook, Ashville, Ala., Bridgett (William) Drake, Georgia, Alister Cook, Ashville; his loving sister, Betty Whisenant, Ashville; sisters-in-law, Josephine Woody, Springville, Myrtle (Willie B.) Turner, Ashville, Emma J. Smith, Lincoln, Ala., Mae Ruth (Cleophas) Gillespie, Ashville, Betty Smith, Helen Woods and Paul Woods, Talladega; brother, Robert Henry Williams, Ashville; brothers-in-law, Billy Woods, Birmingham, Luther Woods, Talladega; aunts and uncles, Cynthia and Earnestine Williams, Ashville, Houston Williams Jr. and Albert Williams, Birmingham; six wonderful grandchildren, Colton Williams, Gadsden, Jocelyn Williams, Gadsden, Esssence, George Ed III, Xavier Whisenant, Hampton, Va., and Ebony Whisenant, who preceded him in death; honorary sister and brothers, Buena Vista Babbs, N.Y., Maryetta (Roy) Green, Brooklyn. Preceded in death: George Lankston Beason "Lank," Roy Curtis Beason "Curt"; one niece, Patricia Whisenant-Herron, Ashville; one honorary nephew, Anthony "Danny" Woods, Ashville; two great-nephews; one great-great-niece; one great-great-nephew; and a host of kids he loved; special friends, Ruth Whisenant, Bill Parker, Samuel Williams, Nathaniel Montgomery and Leroy Turner. He leaves a host of relatives and friends who will truly miss him.
