Martha Howey Whisonant

ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Martha Howey Whisonant, 91, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at Saint John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry Hays and Sandra King officiating. Burial will be in Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Indian Land, Mrs. Whisonant was a daughter of the late William Howey and the late Sadie Elizabeth Howey. She was a school teacher for over 40 years and after retirement, she substitute taught. She loved little children and also taught private piano lessons. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and was the widow of Henry Whisonant.

Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Whisonant Frenier of Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her devoted brother-in-law, James M. Martin of Charlotte, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today, April 13, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road
