Rubye Nunnery Whisonant
ROCK HILL - Rubye Nunnery Whisonant, 92, of Rock Hill, S.C., passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Born in Edgemoor, S.C., Mrs. Whisonant was the daughter of the late William and Althea Nunnery. She formerly worked at Model Beauty Shop in downtown Rock Hill and then opened and ran her own beauty salon. She was a member of the National Cosmetology Association. Mrs. Whisonant was a member of Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clayton, Odell and Donald Nunnery. She is survived by her step-son, Lewis M. Whisonant of Rock Hill; a grandson, Timothy Whisonant; a niece, Phyllis Jennings; and three nephews, Curtis Nunnery, Bill Nunnery and Dr. Kenneth Nunnery. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Edgemoor Cemetery, with the Rev. Heiko Berklin officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the home of Lewis Whisonant, 2455 Lesslie Hwy., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
