Allene Hayes Whisnant
(December 9, 1919 - April 16, 2013)

Esther Allene Hayes Whisnant, 93, of Cataula, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Hamilton with Rev. Bill Simmons and Rev. Paul Fowler officiating. Interment will follow in the Waverly Hall Cemetery with Ms. Whisnant’s grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Ms. Whisnant was born December 9, 1919 in Mauk, GA, the daughter of William Whitfield Hayes and Vastie Watson Hayes. She was a hairdresser prior to her marraige. She was a member of the Senior Sunday School Class at The Rock Baptist Church in Cataula, now know as the Church in the County. Ms. Whisnant had lived here since 1942 and was the widow of Richard Larry Whisnant, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Parks of Cataula; her two sons, Larry (Maria) Whistant of Pine Mountain, Tony (Sandra) Whisnant of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Joe Robertson of Echo, AL, Sherrie Robertson of Cataula, Stacy Robertson of Cataula, Tomasina (Tim) Swann of Columbus, William (Karen) Whisnant, U.S. Army, Caleb Whisnant of Sandy Springs and seven Great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ms.Whisnant may be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
