Olan Whisnant

Mr. Olan R.C. "Fats" Whisnant, 77, of Hudson, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, May 13, 2013, at Brian Center, in Hickory. Born July 5, 1935, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Roscoe Clyde Whisnant and the late Vergie Elizabeth Smart. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and worked in the furniture industry. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Whisnant; four brothers, Larry, Worth, Harvey, and Carol Whisnant; and one sister, Eva Huffman. Survivors include wife, Lois Whisnant, of the home; three sons, Richard Whisnant and wife, Kathy, of Hudson, Randy Whisnant, of Hudson, and Roger Whisnant and wife, Lee Anne, of Kings Creek; three brothers, Eazelle and Dennis Whisnant of Casar, and Jerry Whisnant, of Cookesville; two sisters, Colleen Young, of Hickory, and Margaret Bolick, of Vale; five grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, Jonathan, Jessica and Jamie; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Julie Ann, Lane and Trey; and his dog of sixteen years, Buddy. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 15, at 11 a.m., at Friendship Baptist Church, with Pastors Raymond Spann and Lonnie Bell officiating. The family will receive friends today (Tuesday, May 14), at Mackie Funeral Home, in the evening, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral service, in the church cemetery. Mackie Funeral Home is serving the family.
