Frances F. Whisenant

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Frances Fisher Whisenant, 88, formerly of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Trinity Oaks Retirement Community in Salisbury, where she resided for the past six months.

Frances was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Cliffside, daughter to the late Fred C. Fisher and Audrey Huntley Fisher. She moved to Charlotte with her family at an early age, where she graduated from Long Creek and Charlotte Business School.

Frances married Noble J. Whisenant in 1943 beginning a very successful entrepreneurial and giving journey. She and Noble were partners with C.W. Kidd Jr. and family in the Mecklenburg County Abbattoir. Frances and Noble built and operated the Frances Noble Apartments in Crescent Beach, S.C., until 1986. They then were partners with their family in Eastwood Golf Club in Charlotte from 1992-1999.

Frances was dedicated to her family, church and community throughout her adult life. She was president of the United Methodist Women at Trinity United Methodist Church, officer of Western NC District of United Methodist Women and volunteered at Presbyterian Hospital and with many other outreach programs.

Preceding Frances in death were her husband, Noble; her son, Kenneth Daniel Whisenant; sisters Mary Hayes and Carol Long; and brothers Joe and Charles Fisher.

Frances is survived by sister Freddie Fesperman; brothers Bennie and Gary Fisher; sons Mike Whisenant and wife Ebbie, Pat Whisenant and wife Lorri; seven grandchildren: Celi Watson, Michael J. Whisenant Jr., Noble Whisenant, Patrick Whisenant, Kyle Whisenant, Daniel Whisenant and Caitlyn Whisenant. Four great-grandchildren: Jessica Whisenant, Kalyn Watson, Grace Whisenant and Matthew Whisenant also survive.

All of her family will cherish wonderful loving memories of her.

Service and Visitation: A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (May 25) at Trinity United Methodist Church, 6230 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at the burial site at Trinity Methodist following the service.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 6230 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, NC 28216.
