Andrew E. "Pete" Whisenand, 76, St. Joseph, died Monday, March 30, 2004, at his residence.

Andrew was born March 31, 1927, at Marceline, Mo., to the late Andrew and Elsie (Noah) Whisenand.

Pete served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a member of Truckers Teamster Local No. 460.

He was a truck driver for Smallwood Transportation; Santa Fe Railway Transportation all of St. Joseph and Goetze-Niemer, Kansas City, Mo., until retiring in 1989. He was a security officer with Wells Fargo Security from 1990 to 2003.

Andrew married Frances Gill, Aug. 20, 1944, at Troy, Kan., and she preceded on Sept. 12, 2000. Also preceding were brothers, Robert and Donald Whisenand and a grandson, Craig Whisenand.

Survivors: sons and their wives, Larry and Kathy Whisenand, St. Joseph; Tommy and Carolyn Whisenand, San Diego, Calif.; Billy and Debra Whisenand, Escondido, Calif.; daughters and their husbands, Trudy Whisenand and Roger Muff, St. Joseph and Cindy Whisenand and Raul Fuentes, Kansas City, Mo.; brothers, Ralph Whisenand, St. Joseph and Owen Whisenand, East Liverpool, Ohio; sister, Margaret May Good, St. Joseph; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2004, Gladden-Stamey Chapel. Interment with full military rites at Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation after 3 p.m. Thursday where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to Hands of Hope Hospice.
