David Marion Whisonant

ROCK HILL - Mr. David Marion Whisonant, 60, of 1935 Ebenezer Road passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center, in Pineville, NC. Services for Mr. Whisonant will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 12, 2013 at West End Baptist Church, 1727 McConnells Highway with the Revs. Joel Talley, Wayne Pruitt, and Nate Staton officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. Born in Rock Hill, Mr. Whisonant was the son of the late David L and Virginia Workman Whisonant. He was a member of West End Baptist Church where he previously served as a deacon and served on various committees. He loved to work with the youth and coach basketball. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Abitibi-Bowater Inc. and served six years in the U. S. Army Reserve. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whisonant was preceded in death by his sister, Cassie Vinson. Mr. Whisonant is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jane Pruitt Whisonant; his sons, Chris Whisonant and wife, Jen of Acworth, GA and Stephen Whisonant and wife, Hayley of Rock Hill; his brothers, Darryl Whisonant of Rock Hill and Stephen Whisonant of Fort Mill; his sisters, Jean Reynolds of The Woodlands, TX, Rena Neely, Pam Baker, and Barbara Johnson, all of Rock Hill; and his five grandchildren, Emma Grace, Noah, Ollie, Jonah and Gabe Whisonant. Mr. Whisonant was a supportive husband, and a godly father for his sons and grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30, Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road and other times at the home of Stephen and Hayley Whisonant, 1311 Beckton Court, Rock Hill, SC.
