Lelon Margaret Whisenant Berry

Mrs. Lelon Margaret (Whisenant) Berry, age 97, formerly of Watervliet, made a peaceful journey into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Over the past several months she struggled as her body gave up life, but her eternal life was not affected…it remained secure, resting on the "solid rock", Jesus the Christ.

Her family grieves today, but not without hope, looking forward to the next reunion with her. She will be deeply missed until then by her three children, Nadean (Don) Goodrum of Eau Claire, Mary Jo (Era) Snyder of Watervliet, and Roger (Judie) Berry of Grandville, MI; a son-in-law Jay Wolford; a special nephew Henry (Nancy) Whisenant; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Lelon was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leland Berry, her daughter, Fayrene Wolford, and her parents John and Lula (Cummings) Whisenant.

Lelon was a long standing member of Midway Baptist Church of Watervliet. She and her husband moved to Michigan from Alabama in 1940. Her husband was employed by Auto Specialties for many years. She formerly worked at Saluto Foods and Loose Leaf Binding. Lelon's family and church were the most important parts of her life and she devoted herself to them.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Midway Baptist Church. Visitation will take place Sunday from 3 – 5 p.m. at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Friends may leave a message for the family by clicking on the "Sign the Guestbook" link on the left.
