Revonda Whisnant
HICKORY Revonda Sue Yount Whisnant, 75, of Conover, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice after several years of declining health. Mrs. Whisnant was born Aug. 21, 1937, in Catawba County. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Beal and stepdad, Burgin Beal. She was known to her family as Sissy and her friends as Penny. She loved her two pets, Pierre and Stray. Her hobbies were yard sales, gardening, fishing, bowling and the beach. She worked in the furniture business as a cloth cutter and retired from Wal-Mart. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Jack N. Whisnant; daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Manard and husband, Paul, of Georgia; grandchildren, Jennifer Canada and husband, Brad, of Indiana and Adriene Ged and husband, Eugene, of Florida; great-grand-children, Blakely Canada and Andrew Ged and wife, Emily; brother, David Yount and wife, Doris, of Hickory; sisters, Jean Pitts and husband, Jerry, of Hickory and Linda Laughon and husband, Wayne, of Hickory; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory is serving the family of Revonda Sue Yount Whisnant.
