Lorene Crawford Whisenhunt
Lorene Crawford Whisenhunt, age 87, of Daisy, died Saturday, July 27, 2013.
She was born on September 22, 1925 at Daisy, the daughter of Thomas Burnett Crawford and Emma Lee Blackburn Crawford. On January 14, 1947, she was married to Leo Whisenhunt. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Hankins; her brother, Carl Boyd Crawford; her brother-in-law, J. W. Whisenhunt; and two sisters-in-law, Melvina Jester and Lavada Coffelt.
In their early years of marriage, Lorene and Leo owned and operated Leo's Malt Shop in Glenwood. They eventually moved to Little Rock where they operated the 1515 Restaurant located near the state capitol. After leaving the restaurant business, she worked as office manager and bookkeeper for several physicians and dentists in the Little Rock area. She was a member of the Daisy Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Whisenhunt of Daisy; her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Roger Estes of Daisy; her granddaughter, Deana Priest of North Little Rock; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Denvil and LaRue Whisenhunt of Midland, Texas; Treva Vaught of Athens, Texas, Catherine and Bud Williams of Glenwood and Hixie Whisenhunt of Glenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the Daisy Church of Christ with Ed Coffman officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Mount Joy Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be Greg Williams, Mike Williams, Bruce McNully, Sonny Cox, Grant Pope and Randy Whisenhunt.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Daisy Church of Christ.
