Marcy Lee Whisenhunt

LUBBOCK - Marcy Lee Whisenhunt of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at the age of 92. She was born on July 26, 1921, in Commerce, Texas, to John Lige and Ollie Florence (Rainey) Weir. She attended Commerce High School where she graduated in 1939. In 1942 her family moved to the Lubbock area. Marcy was employed with Furr's Cafeteria until retiring in 1993. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, James (Butch) Whisenhunt of McKinney; daughter, Vicki Wood of Moreno Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Marcy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Whisenhunt on March 7, 2013; one daughter, Janie Bruce; and sisters, Helen Mills, Jackie Slaton and Marie Mitchell. On Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, the family will receive friends 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Combest Family Funeral Homes with graveside services beginning at 10 a.m. in Resthaven Memorial Park.
