Douglas Whisenant, 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God. Graveside service at 2:30 p.m. in Pilot Point Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Douglas was born July 24, 1925, in Tioga to Med and Belle Whisenant. He was active in his church and faithful to his Heavenly Father. Douglas served in the Navy during World War II and retired from Carswell as a civil engineer after over 30 years. Douglas was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Ann; daughter, Linda Gayle Clark; his parents; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors: Son, Kenneth Whisenant and wife, DeLynda; daughters, Patsy Scheirmann and husband, Francis, Cindy McCarty and husband, Larry, Pam Samberson and husband, James; sisters, Elizabeth Shearer, Evelyn Hoffman and Mollie Sowards; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
