General T. Whisenant

General “Peter” Whisenant was born March 4, 1959 in Anniston, Alabama to Azell Whisenant and Minnie Lee Whisenant Smith.

He was a life-long resident of Akron, Ohio. Peter was a “jack of all trades”. There wasn’t a problem that he couldn’t fix. He was an excellent cook and a one man lawn service. Although Peter had no biological children, he was a father-figure to many; never met a stranger; and would give his last to anyone in need.

General was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Lee Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories his father, Azell Whisenant Sr; stepfather, Julius Smith Sr; siblings, Azell Whisenant Jr., Jimmie (Barbara) Whisenant, both of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Lillia Smith, of Ohatchee, Alabama, Barbara C. Whisenant and Patricia Whisenant, both of Akron, Ohio; step-brothers, Julius (Evelyn) Smith Jr. of Akron, OH, Wendall (Cheryl) Smith, Alonzo Smith; step-sister, Priscillia Smith, all of Boston, Massachusetts; adopted brother, Alpha (Lee) Slaughter, of Akron, Ohio; adopted sisters, Evangeline Smith, of Akron, Ohio and Brenda Barnett, of Cleveland, Ohio; aunt, Dyan Anderson (Edward) , of Akron, Ohio; 8 nieces, nephews, 12 great-nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Service will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, Pastor J. Michael Martin Sr. officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 779 Work Dr. Akron, OH 44320.
