Whisnant, Mrs. Aldon Shanks, 95, Steele, died in a local hospital yesterday at 11 a.m. after several months illness.

Survivors include daughter, Miss Nellie Yvonne Whisnant, son, Levi Otis Whisnant, grandchildren , Mr. And Mrs. James David Dunston; great granddaughter Audrey Michele Dunston, all of Steele; sisters, Mrs. Alma Hallmark and Mrs. Jimmie Ware, both of Birmingham. Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Steele Methodist Church with the Revs. Herbert Thompson and John Allbright officiating. Burial in Steele Cemetery. Active pallbearers, the Rev. J.A. Emerson, Clyde Morrow, Burt Brock, Paul Pope, R. J. Smith and Billy Pope.

Mrs. Whisnant was a native and lifelong resident of Steele. She was the oldest living member of Steele United Methodist Church and was the wife of late Levi B. Whisnant. The body will remain at Collier Butler and lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service.
