Jesse Guy Whisnand
Electra, May 6 (Special) - Jesse Guy Whisnand, 82-year [sic] old Electra retired farmer, died Friday morning at Electra Hospital. Whisnand, who had been in failing health several years, had been in critical condition since Tuesday. An Electra resident 30 years, Whisnand was the father of two Texas sheriffs, O. E. Whisnand of Cooke County (Gainesville) and Homer Whisnand of Scurry County (Snyder). Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Totten Funera! Chapel, Electra, with A. F. Thurman, minister of Electra Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in New Electra Cemetery. Whisnand was born in Bloomington, Ind. [sic], and moved from Arkansas to Texas 63 years ago. He lived in Bonham before he moved to Electra. Previously he resided in Lancaster, Tex. Whisnand was a member of Electra Church of Christ, His wife died in 1951 and a son, C. A. Whisnand, died about a month ago in California. Survivors include four sons, O. E. and Homer; L.G. and G.W. Whisnand, both of Electa; four daughters, Mrs. L. R. Stone and Mrs. S. Y. McAlister of Electra; Mrs. Buddy Blalock of Breckinridge, Tex., and Mrs. Thelma Huckabee of Lubbock; 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
