Leonard A Whisnant, Sr

Leonard A. Whisnant, Sr., of Hickory, passed away Sunday, November 24,
2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.

Mr. Whisnant was born March 9, 1933 in Morganton, N.C. to the late
Raymond and Polly Whisnant. In addition to his parents he was preceded
in death by two grandsons, Jason Powell and Brian London, a
granddaughter, Brandy Clontz, and a sister, Sara Whisnant.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Winkler's Grove
Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Owens Whisnant, daughters, Sylvia
Hall and husband Richard, Rhonda Morgan, Nadine Rogers and husband
Danny, sons, Danny Powell and wife Debra, Allen Whisnant and wife Lisa,
and Jeff Whisnant of Tucson, AZ., and Kimberly Whisnant, grandchildren,
Tracy Jamison and husband Michael, Dana Hall Cannon, Danny Powell, Jr.
and wife Shonta, Ricky Hall, Heather Foss and husband Chase, Jennifer
Clontz, Josh Whisnant, Sheryl Nix, David Clontz and wife Brandy, great
grandchildren, Joey and wife Michelle, Brian, Sarah, Adam, Madison,
Gavin, Mackenzie, Alyssa, Lana, Cooper and Tinlee.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2013
at Winkler's Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Faulkenbury and
Rev. Paul Deal officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with
military honors provided by American Legion Post #48.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday prior to the service from
1:30 - 3:00 PM at the church.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Hall, Danny Powell, Jr., Chase Foss, Josh
Whisnant, David Clontz, Joey Lunsford, Brian Lunsford and Adam Lunsford.
