Iva Lee Kirby Whisnant

Ms. Iva Lee Kirby Whisenant died peacefully, Thursday, December 12, 2013, in Kentucky. She was born October 23, 1935 in Caldwell County to the late Will J. and Carrie Kirby. In addition to both her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Loyd Kirby, Eulice Kirby, and Wayne Kirby; two sisters, Alma Livingston and Hazel Frazier.

She is survived by her loving husband, Douglas; three daughters, Linda Bowlin Hudson and husband, Steve, of Hildebran, NC, Patty Bowlin Townsend of Granite Falls, NC; Susan Whisenant of Granite Falls, NC; five sons, Randy and wife, Freda Bowlin of Lenoir, NC, Douglas S. Whisenant Jr. and wife, Kathy of Hickory, NC, Dale S. Whisenant and wife, Brenda of Granite Falls, NC, Daryl S. Whisenant of Lenoir, NC, David S. Whisenant and wife Lupe of Illinois ; two sisters, Iris Kirby Combs of Wilkesboro, NC Greta Kirby Hodge of Lenoir, NC; two brothers, Jack Kirby and Dean Kirby both of Lenoir, NC. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren. The Funeral Service was held Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Mackie Funeral Home at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Randy Bowlin, Paul Duncan and Pastor James Ritch officiating. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lenoir, NC.
