Kathleen Poston
SHELBY - Kathleen Whisnant Poston, 89, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born in Lincoln County on July 31, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence Whisnant.
Kathleen was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She was a loving, caring wife and mother and always wanted to provide to others from her garden. She loved to cook, sew, and grow a vegetable garden. She always loved working in the yard with her flowers.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Edward Whisnant.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bryan "Bud" Poston; three daughters, Linda Patterson and husband Jim of Shelby, Evelyn Johnson and husband Tom of Leland, and Alice Cochran and husband Chris of Charlotte; a brother, John O. Whisnant and wife Benita of Polkville; two sisters, Mary Lee Woody of Forest City and Ruth Powell and husband V. A. of Polkville; sister-in-law, Dorcas Whisnant of Belton, S.C.; four grandchildren, Eric Patterson and wife Christy, Stacy Johnson Elvington and husband Matt, Jon Cochran, and Matt Cochran; and five great-grandchildren, Alex, Collin, and Georgia Patterson, and Rynley and Hadley Elvington.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
Burial: Will follow in the church cemetery
Funeral home: Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
