Melvin Leon Whisenhunt, 75, of Vancouver, WA, passed away at home Feb. 7, 2014. He was born April 28, 1938 to Claude and Margaret (Kennedy) Whisenhunt in Ponca City, CA. He later attended Vancouver High School.
Melvin was in the Washington National Guard from 1957-1959 and during that time was married to Patty Schumsky (1957-1972), and together they had four children.
Melvin worked at Boise Cascade Vancouver (1956-1968) and Albers Mills (1968-1974). He was a Security Specialist at PDX and retired from SEH America.
Melvin was a sportsman who loved the outdoors, fishing, woodworking, and cheering at his local sports events.
Survivors include sons, Brent, Norman and Tracy.
He was preceded in death by his son, Phillip; father, Claude; mother, Margaret; and his brother, John.
A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens In The Chapel on Fri., Feb. 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with hospitality to follow.
