Edith Marie Whisenhunt

Edith Marie Whisenhunt, 93, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, passed from this life Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be Monday, March 10, 2014, at 2:00pm, in the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation for Edith will be Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 8:00am until 8:00pm and Sunday, March 9, 2014, from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.

Edith was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma, on March 29, 1920, to Claude Franklin and Alice (Hooper) Franklin. For many years, Edith worked for Kerr Glass and the Cotton Mill. She was married to Raymond Whisenhunt in 1960. Many stories are told of the great hospitality of Edith. She enjoyed cooking and always had plenty for every visitor to her home. Embroidering, crafts, gardening, and reading consumed any of the spare time that Edith could find. Her loving family was the apple of her eye and being with them always made her happy. Edith was a member of the Osage Hills Christian Church. Friends and family will miss her greatly.

Preceding Edith in death were her parents Claude and Alice Franklin; husband Raymond Whisenhunt; sisters Lucille, Bertha, Irene, and Sophie; brothers Archie and Normal.

Edith is survived by daughter Shelly Dietrich and husband Allen of Carnegie, Oklahoma; sons Johnny Whisenhunt and wife Peggy of Carlsbad, California, Buddy J. Harmon and wife Ann of Karnack, Texas, Dave Whisenhunt and wife Brenda of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and Bruce Whisenhunt and wife Marcia of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; other relatives including numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
