Levi and Ronda Whisnant
Levi and Ronda Whisnant Levi Whisnant, 60, and Ronda Whisnant, 55, of Fish Hatchery Road, Morganton, NC went to be with their Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. The Whisnants were very active in Calvary Assembly of God. Levi was a former deacon and Ronda sang in the choir. Levi and Ronda were very proud of building their current home. Their morning routine was to sit and watch the birds and animals around their home as they drank coffee, and they were planning on building a petting farm.
Levi was born on June 9, 1953 in Burke County, NC to Martha Jane Powell Whisnant of Morganton and the late Levi Whisnant, Sr. Mr. Whisnant was the last graduating class from Oak Hill High School and retired from S.G.L. Carbon with over 30 years of service. He loved to farm and piddle around, doing a little bit of everything and he loves to help his family.
Ronda was born on November 4, 1958 in Burke County to Nadean Miller Whisnant of Morganton and the late Charles Julian Whisnant. Mrs. Whisnant worked as an L.P.N. at Grace Heights and will be greatly missed by her co-workers and the community. She loved to sew, quilt, cook, and collect buttons.
Levi is survived by his daughter, Jenny Whisnant of Gatlinburg, TN; grandchildren, Dwayne Bailey, Bethany Laws, Macie Adams, Garrett Pack, and Kirsten Whisnant; brothers, Jerry Whisnant and his wife, Debra, David Whisnant and his wife, Shelia, Steve Whisnant and his wife, Libby, and Michael Whisnant and his wife, Ellen, all of Morganton; sisters, Trish Whisnant, Geraldine Fox and her husband, Derryl, Connie Padgett and her husband, Darrell, and Annie Arnett and her husband, Ronnie, all of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces. Ronda is survived by her step-children and step-grandchildren; brothers, Darrell Whisnant and his wife, Cheryl, of Valdese, NC and Charles D. Whisnant, Sr., of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.
In addition to his father, Levi was preceded in death by a son, Troy David Whisnant; two brothers, Kevin Stacey Whisnant and Arnold L. Whisnant; and a sister, Doris J. Whisnant.
In addition to her father, Ronda was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Whisnant.
The combined funerals will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, March 17, 2014 at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Duane Smith and Dr. Steve Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Assembly of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00pm, Sunday evening at Sossoman Funeral where the bodies will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
