Charles Samuel "Chuck" Whisenhunt

On February 22 Charles Samuel “Chuck” Whisenhunt, age 67, went to Heaven, joining his grandparents, Nell and CT Traylor; parents, Katie and Jerry Whisenhunt; and niece, Joanna Whisenhunt. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shelia Riley Whisenhunt; daughter, Nancy Ilfrey with husband, Wayne and grandchildren, Barbara Grace and triplets, Daniel Walter, Matthew Charles, and Kathryn Faith of Houston, Texas; brother, Clint with wife, Rebecca and family; sister, Catherine Yox with husband, Mike of St. Petersburg, FL.

Chuck was born and raised in Tulsa, and lived in Houston 10 years. He was a TU alumnus and member of Pi Kappa Alpha. After a 35 year career in control valves, he retired from OCV Control Valves in 2013 to be a full-time Granddaddy.

Falconry, model cars and planes, pipes and cigars, shooting, fishing, wood working and home remodeling, motorcycling, archery, playing harmonica or mandolin with a gospel group, ice cream with his granddaughter, even shopping! Chuck leaves a legacy of zest for life. He was a gifted artist, and, whether in pen, pencil, chalk, watercolor, oils, or clay, his expressions grace our homes. But, his greatest artist’s medium was life itself, approaching every interest and hobby with passion and perfection, along the way drawing around him a tapestry of friends from students, neighbors, and co-workers all around the world.

He will be sorely missed, but remembered with laughter and smiles.
