John Wesley Whisnant

John Wesley Whisnant, 90, of Boger City Rest Home, Lincolnton, died May 20, 2007, at Boger City Rest Home.

Born June 22, 1916, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Rufus Newton Whisnant and Carrie Lee Murray Whisnant.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was a textile worker with J.P. Stevens.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Wayne Whisnant of Newton; a daughter, Mary Lee Whisnant of Newton; two sisters, Gretta Carswell of Newton and Nell Schronce of Maiden; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Parker at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007, in Maiden City Cemetery in Maiden. Goodin-Drum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
