Mildred Whisenant McGrew
Mildred Whisenant McGrew, age 90, of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014. She was born on August 1, 1923, at Glenwood, the daughter of Dale Whisenant and Lena Newcomb Whisenant. On June 20, 1942, she was married to Paul S. McGrew who preceded her in death on August 30, 2009, after 67 precious years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter-in-law, Sue McGrew; her granddaughter, Shauna McGrew; and her sister, Bonnie Faye Whisenant.
She was a faithful member of Trinity Holiness Church, for several years was the secretary for McGrew Knife Company, and for many years worked for her good friend, Glenda Gilbert. She was lovingly known by all as "Mimmie", was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who dearly loved and cherished every member of her family. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in their hearts forever.
She is survived by her two sons, Kenny McGrew and Eddie McGrew, both of Glenwood; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Max Whisenant of Glenwood; two sisters, JoAnn Burks of New Caney, Texas and Sue Dale Snyder of Booneville; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in the Trinity Holiness Church with Bro. Sammy Cottrell and Bro. Nathaniel Roach officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers will be Paul McGrew, Kenny Ray McGrew, Nathaniel Roach, Tharold Cottrell, Seth Cooper, Jimmy Bright, Alan Moore, Austin Roach and Dillon Ledbetter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Nutt, Billy Wisdom, Tim Hilton, Dr. Matthew Hulsey and his nurses and staff and her cherished church family.
