James Allen Whisenant

James "Allen" Whisenant age 71, of Waynesville, passed away April 25, 2014. He was born in Caldwell County to the late James and Blannie Story Whisenant.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Jim; sister Joyce Selnick; and his former wife Sara. Mr. Whisenant enjoyed bowling, NASCAR and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Whisenant of Waynesville; sons David Whisenant and his wife Denny of Brevard, Andy Whisenant of Las Vegas, Mark Lewis and his wife Ronda of Wyandotte MI; daughters Tammy Hice and her husband Ronnie of Lenoir, Carrie Leopard and her husband Ray of Brevard, Jamie Kalis and her husband Darrin of Waynesville; brother Gary Whisenant and his wife Debbie of Lenoir; sister Marie Looper and her husband John of Lenoir; twenty grandchildren, including the two that he and Sandra raised Brian Pressley and his wife Kelly of Lenoir, Matt Pressley and his wife Haley of Waynesville; one great-grandson Mason Pressley of Lenoir; three step-children; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Monday, April 28, 2014 in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. Rev. Gary Putnam and his son Ryan Putnam will officiate and burial will follow in Cathey's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Brevard.
