James "Jim" Whisenhant
COTTONDALE | James "Jim" Whisenhant, age 67, of Cottondale, died April 27, 2014, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel with Dr. Hurbert Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Myrtle Whisenhant.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Frances Whisenhant of Cottondale; daughter, Nancy Taylor (Chris) of Northport; son, Dennis Whisenhant (Lynn) of Cottondale; and grandchildren, Isabella, Darren, Nathon, and Joshua, all of Cottondale.
After Vigor High School, Jim served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. He then went to the University of Alabama for 5 years and had a successful engineering career for 40 years. Jim was a loving husband, father, and Grand PawPaw to Isabella. He touched so many people along his way. He was everyone's go to person for answers. He had the very best understanding ways. He will be missed forever. Love you forever, your wife.
Honorary pallbearers are all Phifer Wire employees, 4th Floor South DCH Regional Medical Center, 1st, 2nd Floors and all his doctors who cared for him along his way.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama in his name.
