Effie “Polly” Robbins Allen

BURLINGTON - Effie "Polly" Robbins Allen, 85, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after five years of failing health. She was born in Burke County, NC to the late Robey Whisenant and the late Rosie Pritchard Whisenant and was married to the late Ronda Royce Robbins and the late Newman Allen.

Polly was the manager of Somers Seafood for 26 years and the former owner and operator of Polly's Seafood from 1976 to 1984. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Royce Ann Michaels, Debra and Gifford Edwards; son, Stacy Ray Robbins; grandchildren and spouses, Cathy and Keith Simmons, Todd Michaels, Zoé Michaels, Stephanie and Tony Hutcherson and Stephan Robbins; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Frances Kimrey; brothers, Robey Whisenant and Wayne Solomon. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, son, Billy Joe Robbins; sisters, Nora Holland and Tootsie Kay; brothers, Pete and Clyde Whisenant.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, July 28, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Allen Filgo with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 pm Monday prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Polly Robbins Allen Funeral Fund, c/o Lowe Funeral Home, 2205 S. Church St., Burlington, NC 27215.
