Lyndon “Lyn” Whisenant
Lyndon Dean “Lyn” Whisenant died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at his home in Arab. He was 76.
Mr. Whisenant was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Marshall County, the son of L.D. Jr. and Robbie Satterfield Whisenant. His first wife, Shirley Ann Tolton Whisenant, died Sept. 1, 1979. He and the former Mary Nell Latta were married 33 years.
A former resident of Union Grove, he called Arab his home for the past 7 years. He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church south of Arab.
Mr. Whisenant was owner and operator of a dump-truck trucking business. He enjoyed working with mules and wagons and liked to keep busy.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, his family said.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Latta Neal-Whisenant; a son, Dale Whisenant (Brenda) of Nixon Chapel; 3 stepsons, David Neal of Cullman, Clifton Neal (Tammy) of Marianna, Fla., and Greg Neal (Lisa) of Union Grove; 2 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Friday afternoon at Arab Heritage Memorial Cemetery followed by burial at Brock’s Chapel Cemetery in Union Grove.
Pallbearers were Nicholas Clark, Aaron Neal, Clifton Neal, David Neal, Greg Neal, Kyle Neal, Dale Whisenant and Dusty Whisenant. Honorary pallbearers were April Clark, Michael Hankins, J.R. Neal, Justin Neal and Ryan Neal.
