Hazel Howell Whisnant

Hazel Howell Whisnant, age 87, of Cottrell Hill Road, Lenoir, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care-Hudson. She was born May 9, 1927 in Caldwell County to the late Frank and Minnie Cook Howell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Junior Whisnant; one son, Danny Whisnant; two daughters, Deborah Lovins and Joann Whisnant; twelve brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Jim Whisnant.

Mrs. Whisnant was an inspector at Bernhardt Furniture and was a member of Tabernacle Advent Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Terry S. Whisnant and David A. Whisnant and wife Joyce both of Lenoir; eleven grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Frank Hall. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
