Mary Lou Pruett Whisnant

Mary Lou Pruett Whisnant, 85, of Drexel, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at CHS of Morganton.

Mary Lou was born on October 5, 1929 in Burke County to the late Floyd Pruett and Candace Carswell Pruett. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church and was a beautician and was retired from Skyland Textiles.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Garrison and one brother in-law, Sonny Garrison.

Survivors include her husband, Ted William Whisnant of the home, two sons, Dr. Terry Whisnant and wife, Summer, of Kingsport, TN and John David Whisnant of San Francisco, CA. Two granddaughters, Gretchen Whisnant and husband, Ali Arsalane of Chesapeake, VA and Jennifer Lambert of Clayton, NC, and one great-granddaughter, Haley Lambert of Clayton, NC. Also surviving are two brothers, Ray Pruett of Lenoir and Roy Pruett of Belmont, one sister, Durlene Secrest of Drexel and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday November 16, 2014 at Enon Baptist Church, with Rev. Gary Garner and Rev. Don Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Morganton.
