Donald Preston Whisenant

A memorial service for Donald Preston Whisenant, 78 of Pickerington is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Refugee Road in Pickerington, OH.

Don fell asleep in death November 9, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 20, 1936 in Hondo, New Mexico to Preston Murray Whisenant and Annie Naomi (McBride) Whisenant. Don was an out-going man, who loved everyone he came in contact with. Many have described him as a man strong in his faith, and who taught others through his actions of true kindness, generosity, and unconditional love.

Don is survived by his wife and life-partner, Dorothy Willeen Whisenant, who he married 56 years ago on November 27, 1958. They shared love and laughter, tears and heartaches, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed every day.

Don is also survived by his mother, Annie Naomi Littleton, 99, of Austin, Texas; brother, Dwight Littleton, TX; sister Mollie and husband Jody Harris, TX; son, Scott Whisenant and wife, AR: daughter, Ellen and husband Joe Koonce, OH; 9 grandchildren, Miranda Guthrie, Loretta Rios, Abigail Jones, Donald Whisenant, Jr., Clint Whisenant, Marli Koonce, Jaci Koonce, Justin Koonce and Morgan Koonce; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Fields.
