Jo Nell Sewell Whisenand

Jo Nell Sewell Whisenand, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015.

Memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Jo Nell was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Dalhart to Martin and Bessie Sewell. She married Richard E. Whisenand on March 22, 1947, in Amarillo. The two of them shared more than 67 years of marriage.

She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband and was a loving and supportive mother to her three daughters. She also was a loyal friend to all and the best friend anyone could ever ask for. Most of all, Jo Nell’s legacy is her love and devotion to her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Whisenand of Amarillo; her daughters, Dianne, Debby and Nancy Whisenand, all of Amarillo; two grandsons, Sam and Ben Lawson; four great-grandchildren; and many beloved family and friends.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dawn and Interim Hospice for the exceptional love and care bestowed upon Jo Nell throughout her illness.
