Pauline Whisnant
Pauline Owens Whisnant, of Hickory, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice, surrounded by her family. Pauline was a member of Winkler's Grove Baptist Church and was a wonderful mother, wife and homemaker and was happiest when surrounded by children, both hers and children of friends and neighbors.
Born August 28, 1934 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Boyd Owens and Juanita Johnson Owens.
In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leonard Whisnant, Sr; grandsons, Jason Powell, and Brian London; granddaughter, Brandy Clontz; and siblings Harold Owens and Nancy Childers.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sylvia (Richard) Hall, Rhonda Morgan, Nadine (Danny) Rogers, and Tammy (Steve) Keith; sons, Danny (Debra) Powell and Allen (Lisa) Whisnant; grandchildren, Tracy (Michael) Jamison, Dana Hall, Danny (Shonta) Powell, Jr., Heather (Chase) Foss, Ricky Hall, Jennifer Clontz, David (Brandy) Clontz, Josh Whisnant, and Sheryl Nix; great-grandchildren, Joey, Brian, Adam, Sarah, Madison, Gavin, Mackenzie, Alyssa, Lana, Cooper and Tinlee; numerous nieces and nephews and an extended family.
A service of remembrance will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Winkler's Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Faulkenbury and Rev. Paul Deal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery next to her husband, Leonard.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Winkler's Grove Baptist Church, 3320 9th Ave Dr. NW, Hickory, NC, 28601.
Pallbearers to honor Mrs. Whisnant will be Joey, Brian, Adam, David, Mark, Chase, Lil Danny and Ricky.
