Jerry Wayne Whisnant, Sr.

Lenoir – Mr. Jerry Wayne Whisnant, Sr., age 65, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born May 14, 1949 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Arvle and Marie Pipes Whisnant.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Linda Taylor and two brothers, Michael and Jimmy Whisnant.

He had attended Center Grove Baptist Church and was a driver for Howard’s Cab for 19 years.

Jerry is survived by 3 children, Jerry Wayne Whisnant, Jr. and wife Diane of Granite Falls; Shana Denise Whisnant and Leslie Whisnant, both of Lenoir; 3 step-children, Angel McLean and husband Charles of Rhodhiss; Tim Horn and Beulah Whisnant, both of Lenoir; 3 sisters, Rachel Minton and Joyce Cash, both of Rhodhiss; Kay Gosnell of Lenoir; 2 brothers, Bobby Whisnant of Morganton; Alfred Whisnant of Rhodhiss; 8 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, May 1, 2015 at Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Tony Harris officiating. The family will visit with friends at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to help offset funeral expenses.
