Faye Whisnant McCoy

Faye Whisnant McCoy, 78, of Morganton, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at College Pines, Valdese, NC. Born November 8, 1936 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late John Lloyd Whisnant and Ellie Mae Smith Whisnant. Faye was a devoted member of El Bethel Baptist Church where she selflessly gave her time and energy to serving as a former Sunday School teacher and to many other church programs. She was a former employee of Skyline Textiles, and a retired CNA at Broughton Hospital.

Faye is survived by children, William Randall “Randy” McCoy and wife, Dena, and Rita McCoy Berryhill and husband, Bobby, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Jason McCoy and wife, Julia, Jamie McCoy and wife, Stephanie, Kyle Berryhill and wife, Autumn, and Kaleb Berryhill and wife, Callie; great-grandchildren, Jacobé McCoy, Jalyn McCoy, Emily Campbell, Hailee McCoy, and Kayden Berryhill; and sisters, Muriel Smith of Sylva, NC, and Vernie Chapman and husband, Don of Morganton.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Nadean Whisnant for the loving care given to Faye.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, William Riley McCoy; a number of brothers and sisters; and her canine companion, Mindy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 at El Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverends Ron Cooper and David Bean officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
