Lewis Henry Whisnant

Graveside will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Union Cemetery, Beason Cove Road, for Lewis Henry Whisnant, 92, Steele, who died Friday, May 8, 2015. John L. Montgomery will officiate. Morgan Funeral Chapel and Crematory is directing.

Lewis was a World War II combat veteran. He worked with St. Clair County Road Dept. for over 30 years. He was a lifetime farmer. Lewis was a devoted father, grandfather and friend. He was loved by everyone. Lewis was preceded in death by son, Howard Whisnant; and wife, Nora (Susie) Whisnant.

Survivors are his grandchildren, Will Whisnant, Scott (Paula) Whisnant, Keith Whisnant, Tampa, Fla., Angela (Heath) Bolton; great-grandchildren, Felicia (Johnny) Peoples, Scott (Jaimee) Whisnant Jr., Damien Whisnant, Amber Brannen, Kassidy (John) Hollis, Kennedy Brown; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Peoples, Brandon Lawley, Chris Abernathy, Adam Abernathey, Fred Stanford, Joe Abernathy, Jim Small and Malcolm Burchett.

Visitation will be today from noon to 2 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel.
