MARY H. WHISENANT, 73, a former Colorado Springs resident, died May 5, 1997, in Canon City. She was a homemaker.

Private burial in Colorado Springs was planned. Memorial services were held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1314 S. Ninth St. in Canon City, with Keith Marsh officiating. Wilson-Almont Funeral Home in Canon City handled arrangements.

Mrs. Whisenant was born April 24, 1924, in Rawlings, Wyo., to Lauro and Sinaida (Bonsall) Rendon.

She was married Dec. 12, 1969, in Odessa, Texas, to Louie Whisenant, who survives.

She also is survived by five daughters, Dianna M. Romero of Pueblo West, Gloria J. Malacara of Colorado Springs, Victoria M. Sanchez of Canon City, Carie Rose of Iowa and Pam Hoffman of Connecticut; and five sons, Ronald V.P. Romero of Glenwood Springs, Gilbert D. Romero of Colorado Springs, Ken Heinle and Mark Heinle, both of Denver, and Dennis Whisenant of Oklahoma; two brothers, Larry Rendon of Pueblo and Gilbert Rendon of Whitefish, Mont.; a sister, Ruby Zimmerman of Whitefish; 29 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, George Rendon, and a sister, Priscilla Warden.

Mrs. Whisenant enjoyed crocheting, camping and cooking. Most of all, she enjoyed reading, studying her Bible and sharing with others.

She had lived in Colorado Springs for 40 years before moving to Canon City.
