STROTHER, Vivian W., 67, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, November 27, 1993, at her home following an extended illness. A native of Richmond, she moved with her family to Blacksburg in 1965. She was a member of Blacksburg Baptist Church, where she was especially active in Baptist Women, Women's Missionary Union, and related activities. She was Mission Actions Chairwoman for the Current Missions Circle for much of the 1970's and '80's, and Secretary for Women's Missionary Union for the past three years. Her special interests also included the Interfaith Food Pantry and the Church's English Language Studies for families of international students. She was also active in the Virginia Tech Faculty Women's Club and several other organizations. Much beloved by family and friends, she was a daughter of the late Barbara S. and Robert A. Whisnant of Richmond. Mrs. Strother is survived by her husband, Warren H. Strother, who for many years was the Director of Information Services at Virginia Tech; a daughter, Sue Anne Seckora of Gales Creek, Ore.; two sons, W. Keith Strother of Norco, cue and David A. Strother of Chesterfield; one sister, Jane W. Hilgenhold of Richmond; one brother, Dr. Robert A. Whisnant Jr. of Lynchburg; a grandson, Bryan K. Strother of Chesterfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 1993, at 11 am. at Blacksburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Allen officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 2, 1993, at 11 am. at Independence Christian Church near Ashland, with the Rev. W. Daniel Griggs officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 9 East Church Avenue, revoke, Va. 24000, Blacksburg Baptist Church, 550 North Main Street, Blacksburg, Va. 24060, or the Independence Christian Church, Box 3218, Rt. 3, Ashland, Va. 23005. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mccoy Funeral Home.
