Andrew C. Whisenhunt
Andy C. Whisenhunt passed away on March 25, 2009 at Duke University Medical Center due to pancreatic cancer.
He was born on January 31, 1946 to the late Reverend Roy Chase Whisenhunt and Helen Jamison Miller Whisenhunt.
After receiving his master's degree from UNC at Chapel Hill, he worked and retired from the State of NC, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation after 30 years. Andy had been currently working part time at Durham Exchange Club Industries. Andy served individuals with disabilities for 40 years and loved being a public servant and helping those in need. He was an active member of Landmark Baptist Church and served as Treasurer. Andy was a 32 Mason and Past Master of the Butner Masonic Lodge, served on the board and was past president of the Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Center, served on numerous other boards, was an avid golfer, 2nd degree black belt, involved in many hobbies, and had a love for the beach.
Andy leaves behind a wife, Cathy C. Whisenhunt; three children, Carrie B. Whisenhunt, Chase C. Whisenhunt and Jamison C. Whisenhunt; and many cousins, family, friends, and colleagues that will always remember and cherish his special sense of humor, jokes and pranks. We will honor Andy's life and keep him close to our hearts forever. There will never be another that can take his place.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Landmark Baptist Church with Pastor Craig Currin officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. at the church.
