Ruby Whisnant

LAWNDALE - Mrs. Ruby Wallace Whisnant, 86, of 216 East Main St., died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Born April 28, 1914, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Dewitt Talmadge and Minnie Mae Southard Wallace. She was former owner and operator of Whisnant's Grocery and was a member and volunteer at U-CAN (Upper Cleveland Area Needs.) She belonged to Lawndale Baptist Church for 75 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Garland Whisnant; a daughter, Lillian Whisnant; and a brother, Hugh Wallace.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Ann Whisnant of Morganton; a brother, Ralph Wallace of Lawndale; and three sisters, Lois McRorie, Syble Daggerhart and Jearldean Wease, all of Lawndale.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Stamey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
