Mattie Lutz

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Mattie Whisnant Lutz, 96, of 3700 Shamrock Drive, formerly of Cleveland County, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Presby-terian Wesley Care Center.

Born June 10, 1905, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Charles "C.C." and Mary Nixon Lattimore Whisnant. She was a homemaker and a member of Kadesh United Methodist Church since 1931. She was an active member of her church and community.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Luther Lutz; three brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Boyte and Jean Lutz of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Bill Elmore of Charlotte; a sister, Edna Philbeck of Aiken, S.C.; two granddaughters and their husbands, Robin Elmore and Darren Hensley of Atlanta and Renee Lutz and Ken Maxwell of Garner; two grandsons, David Elmore of Charlotte and Jamey Lutz and his wife, Julie, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, Christina Maxwell, Garland Hensley, Madeline Lutz, Benjamin Hensley, Cal Maxwell, Elaina Lutz and Juliana Lutz.

The funeral will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain David Lytle officiating.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
