Thelma S. Whisonant
Thelma Smith Whisonant, 94, of Peachtree Centre, passed away Sunday June 11, 2006. She had resided at Peachtree since 1991 and formerly lived in Blacksburg.
Mrs. Whisonant was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg. She was born on April 22, 1912, in York County, a daughter of the late John Newman and Emma Brown Smith.
Her husband, Marvin Whisonant, preceded her in death along with two sisters, Inell Howe of Rock Hill and Bernice Jones of Gastonia, and a brother, Joseph Clyde Smith, of Charlotte.
Mrs. Whisonant is survived by a sister, Jeannette Baker, of Red Cross, N.C., and a brother,r Brown M. Smith, of Charlotte.
Mrs. Whisonant's funeral will be at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Downtown Chapel today at 2 p.m., conducted by the Revs. Rick Douglas and Gary Baker. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. immediately preceding the service. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
