Isabelle Bivens Whisnant
VALDESE - Mrs. Isabelle Bivens Whisnant, 87, of Valdese, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at Valdese Hospital after a period of declining health. Mrs. Whisnant was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Burke County to the late John Kelly and Anna Propst Bivens. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and was a lover of all kinds of animals, especially her five cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 65 years, Paul Benjamin Whisnant; four brothers, Lloyd, Russell, Conley and Dorsey Bivens; and two sisters, Junie Tomlinson and her twin, Annabelle Frizsell. Surviving are her son, Harold Whisnant, and her daughter, Barbara Ann Whisnant, both of Valdese; a brother, Horace Bivens of Long View; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Isabelle B. Whisnant will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, in Burke Memorial Park, with the Rev. Glenn Kerstetter officiating. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her daughter, Barbara Ann Whisnant, 109 Morgan Trace, Valdese. Memorials may be made to Burke County Friends for Animals, P.O.
