Georgia Whisnant

MOUNT HOLLY - Georgia Louise Earney Whisnant, 81, died Feb. 8, 2010, at Peak Resources Nursing Facility in Gastonia.

She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Fred Carl and Frances Clark Earney.

She was wife of the late Clifford "Tip" Whisnant.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. She was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Tip's Grocery in Mount Holly.

Survivors include one son Gary, Whisnant and wife Sharon of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Mary Frances Deal of Gastonia; one brother, Grady B. Earney of Belmont; two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Leroy Mobley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.
