Lucile W. Whisnant

NEWTON - Lucile White Whisnant, 94, of Newton, passed away May 16, 2009, after a period of declining health at Abernethy Laurels. Lucile was born Aug. 9, 1914, in Lincoln County to the late Edmond L. and Corrie Wilson White. She was the wife of the late Harry L. Whisnant, who passed away June 2, 2001. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Whisnant, and 13 brothers and sisters. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Lucile is survived by a son, Scott Whisnant and his wife, Carolyn, of Newton; a daughter, Elaine Wyant and her husband, John, of Vale; five granddaughters, Donna Pickens and husband, Brian, of Terre Haute, Ind., Angie Landers and husband, Rick, of Lincolnton, Michelle Whitener and husband, Monte, and Brandy White and husband Philip, all of Vale, and Wendy Dorsey and husband, Michael, of Newton; one grandson, Eddy Wyant and wife, Rebecca, of Vale; 10 great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Nolan, Zeke, Morgan, Nash, Elijah, Megan, Esther, Anna and Tucker; a sister, Thelma Heavner of Newton; and a very special friend and roommate, Margaret Roseman. The family will receive friends today, Monday, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be held today, Monday, May 18, at 5 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, with Dr. Larry Yoder and the Rev. Larry Bolick officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
