Garry Whisnant

Garry Hamilton Whisnant, 50, of Pax Hill Road, died Monday at his residence with his family by his side.

Garry loved the Lord and had a great sense of humor even throughout his illness.

He had a strong spirit and meek heart and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Owens; sons, Gregg Fox, Nick Fox and Stacey Fox all of Morganton and Tracy Kaylor of Drexel; daughters, Stephanie Van Norman and Kim Hensley both of Morganton and Becky Whisnant of Drexel; and two that were like his own, Bill "Peanut" Whisenant and Jody Owens both of Morganton; brother, Christopher Whisnant of Morganton; sisters Phyllis Smith, Karen Butler, Lori Taylor all of Morganton, Georgia Greer of Hickory and Connie Hartzog of Drexel; adopted grandchildren, Winter Fox and Brooke Fox and 11 other grandchildren.

Services will be today at 11:30 a.m. at the Calvary Assembly of God with the Rev. Mike Whisnant presiding.

Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
