Obituary:

James Whisenand, the subject of this sketch, was born in 1842. Died at his home in Macon County, Jan. 15, 1909, being in his 67th year.
On Sept. 19, 1861, he was married to Mary Jane Dunham. To this union, seven children were born, five of whom are still living. She died in 1887, and in 1888 he was married to Mrs. Dollie Jnry. To this marriage five children were born, four of whom are still living.
Uncle Jim, as nearly everyone called him, had been ailing for some years. He thought he was getting better, in fact, he seemed much more cheerful the day of his death than he had for several days. He was quite jolly that day, singing several songs with his children...
As he was feeling much better that day, his estimable wife had prepared an appetizing supper for him, of which he partook with rather more than usual relish. He pushed back from the table, still talking to the family. He dropped his head on his breast and expired in the chair. His wife noticed he had become quiet and looking up, saw his bowed head. She ran to him but the spark of life had fled...
